The Canadian Society for Vascular Surgery acknowledges the importance and value of diversity and inclusivity within our profession. The goal of the CSVS is to provide a fair, equitable and supportive environment that will allow all members to succeed in achieving their professional, academic, and personal goals. We believe that improving the diversity within the Society and vascular health care providers, will lead to more comprehensive and compassionate care of our patients. To address inequities, the CSVS has formed an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity committee.
Goals of the EDI Committee
To evaluate the inequities existing in Canadian vascular surgery associated with potential sources of bias, such as gender, race, ethnicity, language, sexual identity, socioeconomic status
To improve EDI literacy amongst CSVS leadership and membership
To recommend strategies and initiatives within CSVS that can help support and encourage diversity of the CSVS and the vascular surgery workforce
